2nd Note to Volunteers - again from the heart

Dear Volunteers, Supporters and donors,

Since the NE meeting, thousands of you have been asking about the difference between AAP and other parties. I want to tell the country that there is a huge difference and in the next few weeks, we volunteers shall demonstrate the same. As a disciplined worker, I am generally non-confrontational and have never spoken a word against the movement nor party since the past four years outside the appropriate forum. But now is the time to take a stand. This is not to weaken the party nor our leadership, but to strengthen AAP and the principles that we have espoused.

It always has to be nation first, party next and individuals last. Party is only a vehicle to serve the nation and individuals, merely tools. The blogs are an exhortation to our volunteers, supporters and donors, not to disengage nor become negative, but to engage more with the party and force the leaders to truly build AAP into a party of our dreams. A model party based on principles of participation, accountability, transparency, decentralization and integrity. A party that will force other political parties to follow our example and improve governance and political activity in the nation. AAP volunteers need to demonstrate how we are the real owners of the party and bring back the founding principles in the party.

If you had read my earlier blog carefully, it was my personal challenge to the gag order on informing the volunteers about this most important NE meeting. Thousands from all over the world were waiting – some crying, some sleepless and most worried. A gag order was completely wrong. And hence I challenged the same. Having heard AK speak hundreds of times on transparency, participation, accountability and the need to stay away from arrogance, it has built a strong conscience in me. We must follow this higher consciousness, as a party. My blogs are not against any individual nor a challenge to the leadership. That is not how I function.

A volunteer identifies and considers AAP as part of their existence, but the walls built between them, the Committees and their non-transparent decisions have alienated them. Volunteers must propose that all NE meetings be video recorded and volunteers allowed to view the same. All committee members are finally just representatives of volunteers, nothing more. Remember, video recording was one of our demands during the joint draft committee meetings on Janlokpal in 2011. All minutes of the meeting signed by all members in all committees in the country should be released on the next day of the meeting to volunteers and supporters.

I am hoping that the minutes of the 4th March NE is published soon. In my blog, I have given some glimpses of the happenings in the NE, but the complete minutes should be in the public domain. My description could have some shortcomings and may contain some probable bias, but the minutes will be authentic records. The volunteers should request for the same. This will strengthen the party and volunteers will become privy to the decisions taken.

After the 4th March meeting, it was my well thought out and conscious decision to write the blogs to uphold the higher principle of transparency. A price may have to be paid. A small group of party decision makers in Delhi have already removed me from the informal BBM group. Attacks have begun against me from Ashish Khetan and others. Some dissatisfied members from Maharashtra have started giving interviews against me, some old cases are being re-opened. A concerted attempt is being made in social media to call me anti-party and anti-AK. The party may decide not to fight BMC elections or delay the decision for the same, leadership of Maharashtra will be challenged and discredited by some individuals, media leaks will be made. More will come and I will be finally humiliated so much that I will quit.  That was what was planned for YY and PB, but they overturned that plan by staying inside the party. Let me see if I can withstand the muck that will be thrown. But, my being in the party or not is immaterial, if by then, I am able to bring in some changes in the functioning of the party and empowered the volunteers.

In 2013, Iceland became the first country to crowd source its constitution by allowing citizen to create its constitution. Similarly, volunteers need to propose to the NE about processes and systems on subjects of inner party democracy, volunteer management and communication, reconstitution of PAC and NE, code of conduct for volunteers and leaders, gender justice, conflict resolution mechanisms, policy stands on various subjects etc.In my next blog, I shall propose some concrete ideas on the principle of participation of volunteers in the working of the party and seek your ideas and suggestions.

Friends, it is time to participate in the party functioning in the best tradition of Swaraj. It should be non-confrontational, graceful, respectful to the leadership and constructive. We are all learning.

Let me reiterate, this is not any rebellion, nor against our leadership, nor to seek personal attention. I truly believe that AK is the hope for the country and I have learnt almost everything from him.  I will continue to avoid going to the press.

Jai Hind!

Love
Mayank Gandhi

What is so SHAMEFUL of leading national parties, be it AAP-BJP-Congress taking donation: http://rationale-jay.blogspot.in/2014/11/what-is-so-shameful-of-leading-national.html

I was delighted as many many people across the nation when AAP defeated BJP hands down in Delhi election but when AK said during his swearing-in ceremony that they would be confined to Delhi for next 5 years - I was appalled. Lakhs of people from different corners of the country or from the world over supported AAP as a national phenomena with Delhi as a starting point. Was winning Delhi election an ultimate objective? If AAP is to become a Mamta of Delhi then sorry we wasted our time and energy and we feel cheated. AK may be hardworking, persistent with his efforts, a great strategist, communicator but he failed to come up as a leader - a leader who can face any crisis. What kind of leader he is if he does not talk to his own party's ideologues - why he did not attend the important party meeting while still in Delhi? A leader must not avoid facing uncomfortable situations within his own party. If AK thinks that Delhi Govt. is far more important than the AAP then he is mistaken. Wake up AK. If AK thinks that his friendships with certain AAP members is of more importance than the founding principles of the AAP movement then sorry you are doomed.

Desperately wishing AK to come out of the slumber and continue the AAP movement and momentum

Mayank,
I feel you are not helping to resolve the issue, your blog might create one. I will give some unsolicited suggestion, if AAP becomes a right wing party then it will come out soon for all the masses to see. If it does not, then I think you are making wrong demands. In any case let destiny take its own course. Please do not churn controversy. I read papers where they mentioned, you abstained from voting. We people are smart enough to understand and respect that. If some AAP members are directly attacking you for that, you take the concerns to the party and then quit if they are not addressed. Everyone acknowledges that party needs to be transparent, but I feel let Delhi govt. have the focus to bring good changes to Delhi.I feel people within party creating so much stir is not helpful at all.

I left my job to campaign for AAP in last LS election 2014.Ideologies,Transparency,accountabilities and SWARAJ were all that attracted me towards AAP. But in last few days i lost my belief to some extent and a thought came to my mind that if some are using thousands of volunteers.First time i saw AK running away from a situation. I heartly want #UnitedAAP.

Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain - and most fools do.

Your blog is like saying "I like to complain and do nothing to make things better."

If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain.

As you have said "From the heart"
Even if we consider others dont have heart why dont you have a bigger heart and stop crying abt he said this to me , they removed me from BMM, blah ...

Dont give BS !!! grow up Goverdhan.

This could be one sided perspective (for some) but at least it is factual;

After reading the above article I feel it is pretty much evident that Bhushan's clearly have something else on their mind. The Q is even if, it is true that party is not working "truly democratic" how does it come around and rectify it. Who takes the lead, AK you have to take the leadership in bringing more clarity to this matter. I am not consfused why this could be happening (opinions not matching is universal, it is same, be it Vatican or Land bill), the point here is we need to identify is something wrong and work towards rectifying it. AKs response of weeping was rather indicative of frustration and lot of emotions. AK you need to get hold of yourself and be a very passionate (that you very much are) but at the same time be little bit diplomatic and work with the crowd. Yadav and Bhushan camp still I feel are being unfair and playing by their egos. You need to work for the party and sometime stop applying your brain.

Mr. Mayank

If you are real saint and have cause nation first then show it by your silence and leave AAP politely.

PB, YY and you are congress sympathizer and worried now that AAP will replace congress in whole India, that is hwy you people are maligning AAP.
Please stop your rhetoric and if have guts leave AAP.

Dear mr Mayans
Elections were the most crucial time in a party where every volunteer works hard, puts his money and time.

If there been a great urgency in policies implementations, a week of wait would not have made much difference.

Y did Sr a Bhushan praised Bedi, why Jr Bhushan distanced himself from his father's comment?

You might have noticed how Amitshaw deal th with dissidents?

It is difficult to consume what respected Bhushan and mr Nice Yadav have to offer in what they said or did which was on full public view.

Democracy does not mean sobtaging elections .

This party being looked with fear and contempt by Traditional parties, media and Crony capitalist, multinationals who are all benefitted for the 65 years.

A lot of Binnys cud have intruded to spoil sport.

There should be lines drawn.

I hope you will answer my concern.

Every men in public space as leading personalities have their black side. Traditional parties cud be using these black sheeps to trouble AAP from within.

Considering myself a volunteer in a very small way.

It may be incorrect to say we are doing something for someone etc.
We all are selfish at one or other level in a sense we want to contribute to have a better system where we at some point in our life had some "not so good experience" or thought it could have been better.

Some go abroad and see a better system which is fine. However that dens mean one has to impose his or her view on others. No matter how good or bad it is.

Like us there are million of poor people who under go this on day to day life.

Just because we donate or volunteer or we are leader we get a right to bulldose the dreams of millions.

Mayank your activity is just that.
You just let your personal ego get over a bigger cause.

Poor person on street is much more worried abt his next meal.

Your personal agenda hijacks the good work Delhi govt is tring to do.

Instead of putting up how AAP is making a difference you choose to defame AAP.

People who understand are laughing at you and you are making fool of your self.

Do Good Men Have Ego?

Our Knowledge of Ego

We have been brought up with the knowledge that ‘Ego’ is bad and only bad men have it. But is this what we see actually? Let us look around, see, watch and think about this very important yet invisible asset that human beings have.
Few days back, while travelling in the Shatabdi train, my fellow passengers were talking about the problems being created by the ego of various professors and functionaries in their university. I thought.....

Few days back, while travelling in the Shatabdi train, my fellow passengers were talking about the problems being created by the ego of various professors and functionaries in their university. I thought they were going to attend some workshop or seminar on Ego, but when asked it turned out that they were going to attend a seminar on computers. I asked them that if Ego creates so many problems in the growth of an institution why do we not discuss and conduct workshops and seminars on EGO.

Let Us-
Long ago I visited a kid’s play store. There were two twin children around the age of 3 - 4 years, one of them was sitting in a pram and the other was asking her to get up so that she could sit. But the child sitting in the pram was asking the other child to not even touch the pram! I asked the child who was asking for the pram to sit in the other pram which was lying next to her, but she refused to sit in that pram as she wanted to sit in the pram in which her sibling was sitting. I will be doing injustice to team Kejriwal, if I say that the duo was Kejriwal and co as children.

We can see it happening around us daily. But we feel shocked when good men like Kejriwal and co. display Ego, because we are always told that good men do not have ego. While the fact is that ego is nature’s most important attribute given to human being for some purpose.

Nature’s Purpose
Ego is like a fence to the newly planted seed, to protect it from the other, so that it can grow in strength to take care of itself. But we forget as we grow that tree does not need the fence. But we still go on keeping the fence; rather we make it stronger – as we see our most powerful people carrying a lot of security with them.

Ego, Nature and Society
Ego is given by nature for the survival of the helpless, other dependent child. It is to be dropped when one becomes independent and does not feel threatened by the other. But then why do even good men like Kejriwal hold on to ego? Perhaps, they also feel as threatened as others not so good men in politics.

Sould we not say that “ Those who keep their Ego even after growing up are not Good men “

Hi Mayank, you are very popular leader from Maharashtra and Mumbai. Arvind's polarity and commitment to AAP ideology is NULL before you. PB and YOYO were absolutely correct that AAP should have fought the Maha elections under your great leadership and AAP would have won close to 240 assembly seats. Are you now focusing on BMC election? But becoming a Mayor of Mumbai is below prestige for you.
