Future of AAP - letter to volunteers

Dear AAP volunteers,

Hi, our quest for alternate politics is over.

Like in 1977, the leaders have once again betrayed the aspirations because of unbridled political ambition. Time to go back to whatever we were doing, feeling sad and violated. AAP may survive and maybe win somewhere and after some years, but it is already become like any another party. I realized it after the Delhi victory, many others realized later but some are still living in hopes. To all those wonderful, well-meaning and patriotic volunteers – its time to read the writings on the wall.

The feeling on the streets of Delhi is of palpable anger against AAP. Talk to any rickshaw, taxi driver or hawker, who were the main voter base and they are ready to physically hit AAP leadership. The calculation of doing well in MCD election was based on the cocky assessment of sweeping Punjab and then riding the crest of victory again to influence the Delhi voters. Now defeat looms in MCD.

There is no leadership nor support in Gujarat except on the Social Media. Gujarat will be another Goa. Goa was a small state, and after internal survey of 45% votes (another standard AAP trick), to lose deposit in 39 constituencies will be replicated in Gujarat. If they take any other state for fighting elections, the result will be similar. A small discredited coterie from Delhi cannot just descend and win elections. I have never seen that happen. Probably AAP may not fight Gujarat.

The only chance that AAP has now is to govern Delhi well, and forget fighting elections in other states. Stop the self-defeating hype and get down to do some REAL governance. Improving some schools and making mohalla clinics is not adequate governance, running a good administration is much, much more. Maybe, just maybe, after 3 years, they might get re-elected in Delhi and then AAP could probably offer a more efficient government – but that too looks far-fetched.

23 of the 67 MLAs of AAP have come from other parties, steeped in corruption. Most MLAs of Delhi have started corrupt practices. Ask any one on Delhi streets that are filled with AAP posters made of multiple faces, and they will tell you that AAP MLAs and workers have become as corrupt as earlier MLAs, if not more. Many files of AAP MLA and government corruption are with CBI and IT. The screws are going to be tightened. The CAG whom we used to quote to discredit other parties is passing strictures against AAP. Yet, we justify by pointing fingers at others.

There is a small group of people who run AAP and till now their focus was on other states and making Arvind the PM in 2019. They may restructure their goals, maybe do some drama of apology, but all that has been done before and might not be effective any more. Because of their insecurities and desire for control, they will not allow independent thinkers in decision making. Intellectuals and good people have grown antipathy towards AAP because of their cheap language and political up-manship. A party that came to change the political culture has vitiated it. So, improving the decision makers and the process seems difficult.

So, let me make my final points.

·         Some volunteers say that to stay in politics, one needs to COMPROMISE. But, AAP won 28 seats in Delhi without compromising. AAP won 67/3 by not compromising except in some seat distribution. We demonstrated that elections could be won without money, muscle and divisive agenda. The compromises started AFTER victory.

·         THEN, we started caste and communal politics. Like people, principles were also discarded. Seats were sold in Punjab, cash was taken in large doses, donation list was removed, no income-expenditure data was given for last 3 years and so on and so forth. Do you want to give your life for THIS? So, that some people can use-and –throw volunteers to fuel their ambition for power and money?

I have learnt a lot from my movement and political journey. I had quit my high paying job, but it was compensated with the knowledge and insights that I gained. I have neither become cynical nor bitter. As a person who had encountered similar betrayal during 1975 movement of Janata Party, I just thought that I should reach out to the wonderful volunteers – idealists, patriots and hopeful to say that it is over. We have been taken for a ride.

I am working on a nation building through rural transformation by adopting 15 villages in drought-prone Beed and doing 360 degree development (www.globalparli.org). I am personally in a good place, far away from any politics, due to the positive work that I am doing. I share your pain in my heart for being betrayed. Sometimes it is better to cut your losses.

Sorry if I have hurt any of you, that is not the purpose of this letter.

The truth is ugly and therefore your first impulse will be to impute motives to me, call me BJP stooge and attack me personally– it does not matter, it’s a normal reaction. My sole purpose is to share my views for you to take the right decision.

Love

Mayank Gandhi

I still feel AAP can do course correction and go back to the Basic Philosophy of Changing the Political System without chasing for Power every where. Now the Onus is on Arvind Kejriwal to shed his ego and start afresh for which he has to first get rid of the Coterie surrounding him. The Party has a pool of honest dedicated committed selfless workers whom he should consult and take into confidence, bring full democracy in the Party ( which has not seen a Single internal election since inception ) and start looking for building the Party at grass root level by contesting Panchayat and local body polls. The fight is a long drawn out one and patience is the need of the hour. All these only if we are keen to bring about a Change in the Country. If we are greedy for Power, then we can write the Obituary of this Movement

The day ot went political i stayed apolitocal but from that day to today o hold it against everybody who decided thats the only alternative. Because what you did was ended hope for lalhs of citizens like us who believed that citizens too have an important role after voting. To build pressure and hold the government accountable. IAC was one such platform. Thanks to Arvind kejriwal that now people make mockery of people like me who volunteered in the movement.i still strongly feel just electing a government is not enough. Bht nkw when you talk about it people laugh and say aaye toh the raaste pe dekha na andolan ka kya hua?
The day volunteers were divided into political and apolitical that was the black day for the country.
If politics was the alternative they could have joined any party and remained honest and brought a change.promised of a storm and i dont even see a wind of change.

Nice Blog Mr. Gandhi

I Hope AAP & Mr. Kejriwal will learn the lession. Though I suport AAP and Mr. Arvind Kejriwal as Alternative politics but They are not at Satisfactory level. You can not win by Making 100 clinics of Rs. 500000 each 1000 clinics were possible in 2years, And there are many untouched areas. They should have focussed 360° I mean all round development is needed only samples can not win elections.

IF this was just a frustrated pessimistic rant, it would not have served the purpose of writing it. People will see through this in the course of time and of course NOTHING is farther from the truth that "INDIA is not in dire need of a clean alternative." Winning/losing is part of the game and AAP definitely needs some course corrections, it is all but a process of evolution. No need to heed to the seemingly depressive people who are trying to douse the enthusiasm and undermine the spirit of Honest Volunteers. Jai Hind.

Dear Mayank,

Thanks for your honest views. I am a passive AAP member but not an expert to say whatever you have narrated here is wrong. However, as you said I am still hopeful. Hopeful because AAP is a political infant and overburdened by the hope and expectations people of India has put on it in the days where politics is infested by Criminality and corruption. The infant is supposed to make fall multiple times in the process of learning to walk. The parents do not abandon the infant because of its mistakes in the process of learning.
Having said this, it is cowardice to abandon an idea and the organisation just because it is not behaving the way you want. There is not doubt that you must have done your bit of try to change it and have been unsuccessful.
Please note AAP today is known due to Arvind Kejriwal and his is entitled to take few shots being the leader of the party. I believe you, PB, YY and others left AAP more due to ego clashes; in that sense you have given more priority to your ego than future of India.
Rest, if AAP is a great idea, it will certainly survive and all people like AK, its team including you will be remembered in the history of India.

Regards,
Anand

Apparently the AAP or the coterie have not worked on a long term plan and strategy which the people could and would see the discerning difference that India needs at the moment to bring about a change in ethos and mindset of political 0arties.
Unfortunately AAP worked on short term plans fearing even existence and followed the dumb route of misguiding media.
But for the social Media their Modi and BJP banging would have gone unexposed and it would have become just another political party with the same approach.

Sir totally agree with you. Following are the reasons why I started hating AAP. I always want to share this with you...

1 - AAP's first aim is to remove corruption from this country. And main aim behind demonetisation is to finish black money and corruption. But Mr. Kejriwal also criticize it.

2 - Aap delhi committee never respected you. I know you very well sir , you are realy talented and honest leader. And I am always feeling proud to work with you.

3 - people of delhi showed trust in AAP. So it is their main responsibility to concentrate on development of Delhi. Instead of it AAP starts to concentrate on elections in other state and on collection of funds.

I worked with you at a point of time just because I thought you will be the custodian of change, the change that Arvind envisions , but you not only used volunteers, you are indirectly still doing the same by writing this piece of meaningless words just with the intention to fuel the current volunteer disappointment into anger. Please remember that the most trustworthy volunteers are those who stay with the movement when it really needs you,in the toughest times, now this would actually work in the favor of the party if volunteers like Mayank Ji or the ones who think like Mayank ji to leave the movement today as your contribution would be zero. Majority folks who are AAP supporters and have worked with Mayank ji before did that purely because he was working for AAP, because other than that Mayank Ji has no existence, no one knew him before he joined the IAC and AAP movement,so who is the opportunist here? Who's playing dirty politics while riding on volunteer sentiments, currently AAP is going through a challenging time like every other movement, but like always the AAP volunteers, the soldiers of Arvind Kejriwal, the movement will come out strong with bang! The timing of your post precisely proves my point, as much as I respect you because you are an aged man,I absolutely disagree with you.

Massive Delhi election win in 2014-2015 made top political leadership of AAP lost its mind. I was closely associated with that party during that time- spent my time and also money on it with a faint but seemingly realistic hope that something positive would come up to make a lasting change in Indian politics. But as the Delhi election campaign progressed the cracks among its top leadership and wider cracks among its support base, volunteers were becoming clearer- to me at least.
The NRIs made the situation worse, far worse. A section of typical Indian political opportunists settled or desperate to settle abroad took full advantage of it. They promoted thier own personal agendas, built their professional using AAP platform- some were desperate to start a political career in India while few others were failing professionally in US/UK etc and looking for high profile connections in India to start afresh there. They also started publishing almost paid articles in Indian news media in favor of AAP and thier own interests.

Here are few examples- an equally talented UK resident son-in-law of a former Bihar Chief Minister, who later was jailed in fodder scam; a Indian origin doctor in Chicago, whose practice license were cancelled, many such morons started scrambling for power and visibility in AAP and in India. Many disgruntled former BJP/Congress and other parties exploited AAP for thier own political ambition of promoting those saffron or congress flavored politics and internal democracy within AAP.

These people tactically removed the dedicated and ideological volunteers and leaders away from the supremo- Mr Kejriwal. On top of that, Kejriwal started surrounding himself with cronies and those previous NRI opportunists. He basically milked the NRIs for money and never actually gave much power to that lot, or even attention to internal party democracy. He carefully fooled many people with his Indian civil service type mannerism and cunning ability.

Once the election was over, the cracks blown apart. Many previous leaders were expelled, many volunteers resigned.

When I personally talked to many volunteers abroad, I quickly realized that almost all have their own vested interest. Sometimes I was instructed to talk, sometimes I did on my own. They have thier own version of post-AAP Delhi and India- with the same religious, regional and every other form of parochialism.
E.g.- AAP tactically appeased Muslims, while Kejriwal himself was playing his Hindu card, publicly advertised his worship and bath in Ganga to win elections. Religion was almost openly being used to win election. I opposed it but, told that "it's necessary to win" :(

I also tried to influence its very pathetic education policy. But again failed--- some naive NRIs and Delhi based cronies already captured that dept.
Then issues like GMO and many other whihc demanded some basic understanidng of science and the society. It became clear that AAP leadership does not care about science or society but like to make policies based on 'feelings' (and religion, naturally).
Almost all of Kejriwal's inner circle was Delhi people, who hardly have much or any idea about India as a country. All have personal grudges agianst one or more parties or some personal agendas.

From the very begining AAP was ddesigned as a Delhi-wala party and as a typical Indian political party with typical Lala business mentality of short term profit...

Decentralization is need of time we came in politics because we liked this policy, constitution was wonderful and we started forming organization without compromising with power hungry and corrupt. Faces which came forward in leadership wooed public as new generation of honest politicians with propeople policy and we won. After victory Manish sisodia came when we pointed that campaign committee policy parallel to elected committees and not as helping hand with committees was wrong and it paved way for vertical division in party. He asked how many members when u were elected, we told forty, he said do u think u represent than, I replied yes we forty succeded to get 1.5lac votes in three halka of Faridkot district and further extended by helping make unit in Moga and Rampuraphool and added2.5lac votes so forty made four lac, we were like peddy paneeri which spreaded in nine constituency and gave one seat to keep your respect intact when party lost in other states of India. He was silent and failed to answer me but from that day I was side lined and all committee of punjab were dissolved under guise of new election which was never done. Game shifted, nominations done only and that too from Delhi and soon fifty two from Delhi came to punjab as observers but only to cotroll whole game and side line each line who so ever has independent views which differ from them. Even by remaining a simple member we countinued to make people aware of gram sabha roll, exposed corruption, RTI activist were attacked, Manreg small farmers money for three years wirth 63000/-looted by not giving, and for whole punjab if calculated was 82-85crore rs fraud and our repeated reuests bore no fruit to get even single statement from our MP,Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal, Durgesh, Sanjay, Sucha singh, Gurbinderkang.Even than we tried telling please correct policies and working style we are loosing at ground but no heed paid and when last but not least corrupt were nominated as candidate we resigned that now it is too difficult to be part of your designs. This jhatkagiven by punjabi is slap on face of Kejriwal who bluffed by changing policy and his team declared jhadoo is brand now, any one who wants to leave may leave we will win even if ticket is given to kutta(dog) so this arrogance needed answer. Now team who lost should be dismissed and as opposition party winners should select independently their leader without Delhi interference and party should be organized on lines of party constitution saying goodby to chaploos culture. Thanks

Dear Mayanak..

Absolutely agree to whatever you have mentioned and share the same sentiment as yours whether people call it frustration or whatever. But I am amazed at some of the logics people gave above that they still trust AAP and that it is an infant and politics can be changed when you are within the system. In that scenario what is the problem of one joining Congress or BJP and cleaning the system. Are they Pakistan parties, they are also Indian parties, people in those parties are also Indians. Why have a 26th political party in the country. The very idea why AAP was formed was the fact that
1) it will provide clean governance and end corruption.
2) it will end dynasty politics like in Congress.
3) different than the run of the mill politicians.

What ended up happening is the same. half of them are charged with corruption, there is democracy within the party, only AK defines the rules. Answers are similar to every party politician.

the only difference between AAP and BJP/Congress etc is that age of the party. Rest all principles are the same.

I remember in Delhi there were Red line buses earlier and they were called killer buses. every day there was news of bus killing someone. One day government took a decisive action and introduced Blue line buses, drivers were the same seats were the same and only the color of the buses changed. Same is with AAP.

AAP lost for one simple reason. AK was an anti-national force. He wanted to break up India. Look at all the people he associated with. He worked with Kashmiri separatists and khalistanis. He would hold vigils for palestinians, but didn't utter a word of the conditions of Kashmiri Pundits. He even put up maps of India that showed parts of India missing, like Kashmir. What he should have done is said Kashmir and Punjab are an integral part of India. Instead, he took the standard communist extremist message and pushed a message division, hate, and corruption. He was a Hinduphob.

Hi All,

Need of time for AAP is to work hard for delhi, and that is only possible if state govt and Central govt cooperate each other. In blind ego AK made huge distance between him and Modi, which made minimal support from central govt. Further both BJP and AAP proved themselves to be talking more and do less. AK was given task of serving delhi not wasting time on his political career. Hope he understand he has left with same time as PM modi to get work done and fulfill promises . Time to work with Mr Modi for delhi and nation. If you can't do that, forget , future is only dim without exceptional work.

The main reason AAP was not liked by people of Punjab & Goa was because it was all noise & no work getting done. People of Delhi voted you to power to bring some change. But you run away to other states to forward your Prime Ministerial ambitions without an iota of work in 2 years. Even people voted Modi as PM based on his 15 years of solid track record as CM of Gujarat. Only Nehru Gandhi parivar people get voted as PM due to surname. But that too is past now as people want to see real work & not just family names.
The real question to be asked is "What has Arvind Kejriwal done for Delhi in 2 years ?". All those who have commented in support of AAP here should answer with the hands on their heart. The answer is nothing. Like it or not, Delhi is not a state per se, because Centre has a say in many areas. Instead of working with Modi govt, Kejriwal was more interested in antagonism and one upmanship towards Modi. AAP went to such a level that once Ashutosh told a reporter "Don't ask us, ask LG or Modi". Also Kejriwal in order to prove his Anti-Modi
credentials teamed up with corrupt Lalu, played politics over Dadri, Rohith Vemula, JNU, Gurmehar, Is this the way to work ? Previous govts also had same issues but all worked peacefully with Central govt.
I am happy that AAP was taught a good lesson. It is now time to do some real work.

AAP is in this state because of their own doings. Instead of working in Delhi after winning a massive mandate, Kejriwal was roaming outside Delhi in Punjab, Goa & Gujarat to forward his political ambitions. His Anti-corruption activist was turned to tatters when he supported Lalu Yadav.
Kejriwal who promised he will bring different type of politics was soon engaged in open minority appeasement, caste politics & supporting anti-nationals in the name of Freedom of Expression.
During the Jat agitation in Haryana when the water was cut off for days in Delhi due to the agitation, Kejriwal was busy campaigning in Punjab & Goa. We were dependent on tankers for nearly 25 days in our area. Where was Kejriwal & AAP then ?
Just shouting Corruption is not ok. What action has Kejriwal taken about the 370 pages proof against Sheila Dikshit govt, which he was waving to the people. No action. Just coming on TV and calling others corrupt without an iota of proof doesnot help or win you votes.

So stop all these appeasement, throw kejriwal away.. And stop thinking you are there to change the system - you are NOT doing that .. You are not capable of doing that... Under Modi, India is witnessing a positive change. If your party has to survive, work WITH the centre.. Not against... And Throw that egomaniac Kejirwal away from your party...

Now we see the same character in AAP. Minority appeasement, Caste politics, etc.

The cruelest joke on those who supported AAP was when they took support of Congress after 2013 elections in Delhi, whom they criticised all along as corrupt. Then Kejriwal did a nautanki of resigning realising his mistake.
In 2015, he supported Mamata & Lalu who are having corruption cases against them.
He wants us to believe that AAP stands for Anti-corruption. Do you think people are fools ?
I will be very happy if this sham called AAP comes to an end. Waste of time.

If AAP has some shame left, they should withdraw from Gujarat elections due this year end and work in Delhi for the remaining 3 years of their term. Atleast show some work getting done.

I believe, people make parties and not vice versa. As long a sincere person is there to guide the party, the party would grow.

Hello Mayank ji, You are correct. Arvind ji is influenced and misguided by some persons. Moreover Arvind ji is not able to hear the true volunteers of aap.

Just like any human being, they want their theory to be correct. Yogendra Yadav, You and so many others left because, it did not work out the way you wanted and had to leave and now you are trying to prove a point and "I told you so" narrative. Let me tell some facts about humans, in general, applies to every country.
1. "Mera baap fakir and tera baap chor " - relative morality. we all suffer from it. So in my view corruption is not at all a problem, as media and all of us make of it. Ask any bhakt, they will say BJP is not doing corruption but they have no idea , it is being done differently. But people don't mind, if you give something back to them
2. Activism and Politics is different. You can not win a war by being true and honest. doesn't work that way, no examples in history. If you want truth, be yogi but don't join politics or war.

My suggestions.
1. Kejriwal have patience. Your turn will come again. Keep doing the hard work. UP election was a repeat of 2014 , where in a 3 or 4 day fight, winner takes it all..ofcourse winner, in this case, bjp ensure that their voters are not going anywhere, which was a big achievement
2. Pick folks, who will win elections for you. You might to have lower some standards. This is a reality. If you pick IROM SHARMILA, you are going to get 90 votes. but again, have a balance.
3. wait for BJP to make mistakes, they will make. They are nothing but congress. The longer they remain true, the longer you have to wait. Going by loud mouth bhakts, they will screw up.

It is cycle, you will be destroyed, but hang on for long, you chance will come. BJP toiled for 30 years, and they deserve it hands down. Salute them and get back and start preparing for next war.

Instead of doing some work in Delhi, Kejriwal was more interested in one upmanship with Modi. Bear in mind that people have voted Modi as PM after looking at his track record as Gujarat CM for 3 terms. Why shud one choose Kejriwal ? Kejriwal thought he can beat Modi in Varanasi in 2014 just like he beat Sheila Dikshit. Why would people vote for him when there is another candidate who has a formidable track record ?

After becoming CM, Kejriwal's attitude has been to always criticise Modi on every topic, and not doing his own work. What the hell was Kejriwal doing by playing politics over Dadri incident, Rohith Vemula murder, Dalit attrocities in Gujarat. Also showed his double standards by not criticising Mamata for frequent riots in Bengal, Dalits beaten up in Bihar.
And lastly siding with anti-nationals like Kanhaiya & Umar Khalid. People r not fools

Absolutely agree. AAP was founded on the basis that "Everyone is corrupt except us". They have no roadmap as to how to develop India. These AAP ppl think making some Mohalla Clinics and streamlining primary school admissions will get them votes. New generatuon wants overall development and not just some Mohalla clinics and School admissions. Sadly, an anarchist party like AAP has no answer to that. Other than crying against Ambani-Adani, has AAP any plan how they will develop India ?

Course correction is applicable only if the original goal is noble. I seriously doubt Kejriwal's intentions to begin with. I'm confused about his personality - is he straight off cunning (and has taken the people for a ride with his anti-corruption mask) or is he just delusional (thinking that he is some kind of modern day messiah who will lead the people to happiness)? Either way, he has fooled many people.
It is not that AAP is the only hope for the country. Whoever does good work with noble intentions must be supported. In this case, we have misjudged a man's intentions, hence the problem.

One may disagree with their approach and their methodology (I do in many instances) but one cannot doubt their patriotism even for second without being either foolish, ignorant or a plain simple liar.

AAP like Congress, is hell bent upon rallying behind one personality, it is the Gandhi's there and AK here. If we want to see a genuine change in the political system we need to make sure we don't end up becoming like the congress, pick up some clues from the BJP where even after all the revolt and infighting Modi was brought to the fore.
The party is an ideology, don't let it become the reflection of AK's personal ideas and aspirations.

Raja Bhat said...

Nice Post Mayank! It echoed my exact feelings. I like thousands of fellow countrymen got carried by the IAC movement in 2012, and subsequent political offshoot - AAP. I was impressed with the ideology of transparency, decentralisation of power, the concept of financial autonomy at the grassroots Gram sabhas etc. for the first time in my life I was excited about the future and got actively involved since the beginning. I started donating money, convinced my family and friends to donate etc

During the run up to the delhi elections in 2015, There were reports of people quiting citing lack of democracy within the party, Arvind being egoistic etc. But I never took it seriously. I was happy that good people like Yogendra Yadav, Admiral Ramdas, Prashant Bhusan, yourself, Medha Patkar were part of AAP. There were reports of friction of YY, PB, Admiral with AK.

But soon after the elections, the way YY, Admiral Ramdas and PB were thrown out of AAP was shocking. There was no transparency. The very foundation of AAP. Till date, noone knows the reason for their sacking. If it was any other party, it would not have mattered, But AAP who took money and support from Volunters and well wishers had to give an explanation to its supporters.

This one incident, made me see the real face of AK. This cunning man used YY and PB till the elections inspite of the friction, soon after winning 67 seats the selfish and insecure man just kicked them out! He felt insecure because he knew that YY was more statesman like and articulate than himself and eventually will become more popular than him. He built a coterie of useless yes men around who are neither competent nor visionary.

AAP without transparency and decentralisation of power is just like any other party, nobody wants another congress with a ji hazuri culture. AAP will die soon because AK will not change, he is too egoistic to accept his faults, too insecure to give credit to others.

I will begin with saying, I like and love Mayank Gandhi but I say, I don't believe, he did not know Arvind Kejriwal even before AAP was formed. With my due apology, Mayankbhai wanted to come in Govt by hook & crook. He preferred shortcuts. Number of times, I had told him that lets convert our volunteers in dedicated corps sublimating their values in principles but he had no mind to do so.

Mayankbhai, you are an able person and blessed too. So many still believe you. Had you tried to convert the volunteers in a disciplined force like RSS, the situation would have been different than what it is.

Even when I tried to suggest ethical ways on FB group, I was removed but you kept quiet though you had joined me and knew me personally.

All so called leaders wants peons and not colleagues. I am afraid, you too are no exception.

Within heart, there is personal ambition to come in Govt. Talk of anti-corruption and national interest is merely tool to subserve political ambition.

To take the people to Anna's village, AAP volunteers were expecting sponsor on FB group. I said, we must bear our transportation cost and well placed should bear cost of one more volunteer but I was removed from group by your coterie to suggest methods suiting to the ideology of not accepting funds from people as when you take money, you have to pay it back by undue favours after coming to power.

Anand of Pune is grossly in illusion. I could read half of the total comments not all.

Pl pardon me to be frank.

Building a party needs a very deliberate effort with a lot of checks and balances built into the system which would ensure maintainance of quality and ideology. With the leadership in such immense hurry how could the essentials be ensured?
I am sure that AAP does have some right minded people who will not lose their focus and who would once again build the party to follow its lofty ideals.

Dear current and former volunteers of AAP,

I read through all the comments to Mr. Gandhi's note. I have been a semi active volunteer since its inception but based in Bangalore. So i have the advantage of seeing things from an outsiders' perspective which has its positives and negatives. Here are a few comments based on reading all the above comments to Mr. Gandhi's letter.

a. AAP is a political infant. As someone has said, one needs to give time. BJP took 30 years. It is a party of eager fools - who have very high expectation from themselves. That is not wrong.

b. Delhi has been a BIG BIG BIG mess. Expecting an infant party to come and clean up in two years? Judge them after 4 years. And while they are at the job, it will be great if people not post negative comments. This only affects the cause. As in everything else, patience is the key. One can criticise certain policies and direction, but not spew venom. By doing this, the criminals on the road get added boost.

c. Yes. Arvind is in a hurry - hurry to change - whether it is good or should he go step by step. That's a very strategic call which only he can take, perhaps with consultation. As they say, beat the iron when it is red, Arvind believes that the nation is ready for change and this is the best time to force the change. Unfortunately, the resources he has is too limited. He is not supported by the Ambanis or anyone like other parties do. So, people, have more patience.

d. The recent setbacks will help in AAP reflecting its strategy. Hope something positive comes up.

e. BJP's anti-app marketing campaign has succeeded in changing the minds of middle class. By the way, most middle class Indians are the beneficiaries of the old system. They will support those who are winning - they have no patience for transformation.

f. Yet, don't loose heart. In four years, a party without corporate money, is in power in one state, is the opposition party in another. - in both - it has beaten BJP. Now you know why BJP hates AAP so much. So please don't fall for BJP's anti AAP hate campaign.

g. It doesn't matter that AAP did not do well in Goa. But they have learnt lessons. Nation building is not a one-way horse. Everyone makes mistakes. We are paying big time for mistakes of Nehru, Indira and who knows even Mahatma Gandhi. If M Gandhi had insisted on Jinnah as PM and not listened to Nehru - we wouldn't have the Pak problem?

h. Friends, with one party gaining monstrous power, it is not good for the nation. BTW - i like Modi and voted for him in the last election. But supporting a transformation of the nation, and voting for a leader are different.

i. Request all former volunteers to get back and have a longer vision for AAP and support AAP.

If AAP fails - we are back to square one. (even if India gets more efficient - its moral soul will be in the dirty Yamuna - which note of the national parties were able to clean it so far.

All the best.

Lot of craze indeed!! Especially which has manifested at the polling booth in less than even one and half month just a couple of days back..... AAP is the most disgusting power hungry political vermin devoid any shame or scruples whatsoever in league of SP, BSP,RJD, NC,PDP, DMK etc and often trumping them seasoned players in it's various enterprises in sheer "Bad Faith".
It as corrupt morally and ethically as well as financially as any of the above mentioned. It is the platform for assorted "breaking India' forces inviting many who couldn't make a place for themselves in older refuge for scoundrels.
This "Kaath ki haandi" is not going to be used twice. After the end of present Delhi government's tenure, most of the AAP MlAs including Kejriwal will find it almost impossible to be re-elected to the Legislative Assembly, not even in Delhi - actually certainly not in Delhi. And with mix of abuses they have hurled against others and the acts of ommission & commission by them rapidly accumulating along with the public anger against the parry and it's leader, the day their tenure gets over a very period awaits them especially in the court's of law.
And since Mr. P. Bhushan is your friend, he is lucky that he got himself kicked out of AAP but his luck has started running out and his arrogance, ill will and habitual nastiness is going land him in a major soup in the same courts he has used so far fulfill his personal ambitions before the end of 2017 itself. I waited for 43 days to remind you of your assesment regarding 'quite a craze' and I will wait to write back to you till Mr. Bhushan gets a taste of his own medicine in his own arena which too ought to be sooner than later! ;) :)
