2nd Note to Volunteers - again from the heart

Dear Volunteers, Supporters and donors,

Since the NE meeting, thousands of you have been asking about the difference between AAP and other parties. I want to tell the country that there is a huge difference and in the next few weeks, we volunteers shall demonstrate the same. As a disciplined worker, I am generally non-confrontational and have never spoken a word against the movement nor party since the past four years outside the appropriate forum. But now is the time to take a stand. This is not to weaken the party nor our leadership, but to strengthen AAP and the principles that we have espoused.

It always has to be nation first, party next and individuals last. Party is only a vehicle to serve the nation and individuals, merely tools. The blogs are an exhortation to our volunteers, supporters and donors, not to disengage nor become negative, but to engage more with the party and force the leaders to truly build AAP into a party of our dreams. A model party based on principles of participation, accountability, transparency, decentralization and integrity. A party that will force other political parties to follow our example and improve governance and political activity in the nation. AAP volunteers need to demonstrate how we are the real owners of the party and bring back the founding principles in the party.

If you had read my earlier blog carefully, it was my personal challenge to the gag order on informing the volunteers about this most important NE meeting. Thousands from all over the world were waiting – some crying, some sleepless and most worried. A gag order was completely wrong. And hence I challenged the same. Having heard AK speak hundreds of times on transparency, participation, accountability and the need to stay away from arrogance, it has built a strong conscience in me. We must follow this higher consciousness, as a party. My blogs are not against any individual nor a challenge to the leadership. That is not how I function.

A volunteer identifies and considers AAP as part of their existence, but the walls built between them, the Committees and their non-transparent decisions have alienated them. Volunteers must propose that all NE meetings be video recorded and volunteers allowed to view the same. All committee members are finally just representatives of volunteers, nothing more. Remember, video recording was one of our demands during the joint draft committee meetings on Janlokpal in 2011. All minutes of the meeting signed by all members in all committees in the country should be released on the next day of the meeting to volunteers and supporters.

I am hoping that the minutes of the 4th March NE is published soon. In my blog, I have given some glimpses of the happenings in the NE, but the complete minutes should be in the public domain. My description could have some shortcomings and may contain some probable bias, but the minutes will be authentic records. The volunteers should request for the same. This will strengthen the party and volunteers will become privy to the decisions taken.

After the 4th March meeting, it was my well thought out and conscious decision to write the blogs to uphold the higher principle of transparency. A price may have to be paid. A small group of party decision makers in Delhi have already removed me from the informal BBM group. Attacks have begun against me from Ashish Khetan and others. Some dissatisfied members from Maharashtra have started giving interviews against me, some old cases are being re-opened. A concerted attempt is being made in social media to call me anti-party and anti-AK. The party may decide not to fight BMC elections or delay the decision for the same, leadership of Maharashtra will be challenged and discredited by some individuals, media leaks will be made. More will come and I will be finally humiliated so much that I will quit.  That was what was planned for YY and PB, but they overturned that plan by staying inside the party. Let me see if I can withstand the muck that will be thrown. But, my being in the party or not is immaterial, if by then, I am able to bring in some changes in the functioning of the party and empowered the volunteers.

In 2013, Iceland became the first country to crowd source its constitution by allowing citizen to create its constitution. Similarly, volunteers need to propose to the NE about processes and systems on subjects of inner party democracy, volunteer management and communication, reconstitution of PAC and NE, code of conduct for volunteers and leaders, gender justice, conflict resolution mechanisms, policy stands on various subjects etc.In my next blog, I shall propose some concrete ideas on the principle of participation of volunteers in the working of the party and seek your ideas and suggestions.

Friends, it is time to participate in the party functioning in the best tradition of Swaraj. It should be non-confrontational, graceful, respectful to the leadership and constructive. We are all learning.

Let me reiterate, this is not any rebellion, nor against our leadership, nor to seek personal attention. I truly believe that AK is the hope for the country and I have learnt almost everything from him.  I will continue to avoid going to the press.

Jai Hind!

Love
Mayank Gandhi

Great to hear from you Mayank. We can stand together and be counted for preserving the founding ideals of the party.
You are absolutely right in raising the concerns of lakhs of volunteers by remaining within the party. sycophants will succeed if people like you leave the party in disgust.

We are with you.

Mr. Mayank...you seems to a bit confuse between the party functioning and swaraj. Both are different matters.

You are either naive or very intelligent or just an average Indian who always think that he is always right but sir the theory can never match the practicality. So be realistic and try to provide the solution not propagate the problem. We Indian always discuss the problems and have negative and pathetic mentality and we all want that all the world should know "ki kitne lachaar hai hum aur sari duniya hamare saath mil kar roye". Please be an true Indian and try to provide solution. You are already in press or media by posting this blog so please stop your hipocracy that you are not going to press. Do try to be another Binny as we feel you are a good person and can be good reformer for the AAP.

Sorry in advance if you feel hurt from my comments.

By posting this blog you have shown that your presence in the Party is meaningless because you have put no effort to bring the change that you are talking about.
Please quit the politics because if you cant make the change in AAP you can't anywhere else.
You are not a leader ! just an opportunists.

Mr Mayank instead of complicating the situation, you should have taken constructive suggestions to both sides, instead of solution , you yourself have become another problem for AAP. The positivity and resilience shown by you is exceptional and I must say you are the true AAPian. Having come so far it is imperative that the gains must be consolidated. Through good governance in delhi and by strengthening party infrastructure, Principles and Practices. I remember an excellent quote - in the lines of which lies the solution to the current problem - "YOU CAN DO WHAT I CANNOT DO. I CAN DO WHAT YOU CANNOT DO. TOGETHER WE CAN DO GREAT THINGS. - Mother Teresa
Let us ALL OF US get out of the personality cult syndrome here and now - and concentrate in jointly building up this Party into a medium which could take this country from strength to strengths.

With great regards to all leaders of AAP

Dear Mayank ji,
You are right. When pet dogs of a dumb & deaf owner barks, one can hardly do anything, not even the authorities.I assure you that in case of barking by stray dogs, I would have called municipalities to take them away.
Unfortunately, you have to deal with the situation and we are with you. I can understand that some opportunist Maharashtra Volunteers are trying to displace you to please high command.I have my serious doubts on the very survival of this so called double standard high command.
I have always been a big supporter of Arvind Kejriwal, who I think an icon of honesty and integrity, but no longer. In fact I have tried to describe his real character in my blog at ravinderkumar16.blogspot.in
Let the dogs bark but you do not yield.

Mayank, I am not an AAP supporter. But let me add my views. Political parties need strong leadership & a strong leader to achieve that. Leaders can have differences but the view of the supreme leader has to prevail otherwise there will be chaos.

It's just your dream that a political party can be run successfully with decision making centralized and everyone having a say. Volunteers of AAP have elected leaders to take decisions on their behalf. Till next election, leave volunteers alone to do their daily tasks and carry on with their lives! You leaders need to discuss and eventually agree to the final decision of the chief.

It would be good for the country to have a strong opposition, but we can't expect to have one, when leaders go against the wishes of the chief.

MG said...

As a supporter of the party, who you pretend to be so concerned about, I am extremely disappointed by your actions. The AAP, a two year old party, has fought, and won, two elections in that short time against tremendous odds and opposition from the biggest political powers in this country. Please do not demean that achievement and the process by which it was achieved, specially when you waste time in criticizing instead of giving the time and effort to constructive solutions to any problems that may have come up. Do YOU have any concrete plans on these issues? Instead of demanding elections in other states, people should stand up and say, I will work on solving funding issues or streamlining candidate selection, no one is stopping them. And these, although important, only come up if anyone has ambitions of national expansion, but what model of governance will you offer Gujrat or UP if you are still working on one in Delhi? Why hijack the functioning of those in the party who rightly want to concentrate on fulfilling the expectations of the people of Delhi?Spend time in efficiently governing Delhi instead of shamelessly participating in ego tussles over BBM groups.

So what? No NE member should have respected the gag. The members should owe allegiance to the donors and volunteers and not to a silly diktat.

Unknown said...

It is very necessary that the principles espoused by the top leader is practiced within the party.
First, he used everybody and made all sacrificed whatever they have. After attaining the minimum level he cherish, now he starts thinking that its time to occupy the position pleasantly without much criticism and he has started throwing those regardless of any friendly, humanitarian or ideal principles.
He will not able to retain anything i.e. position, faith and love of the people if he behaves like that after a short span of time. The contributions of PB and YB in a large number of issues besides those in AAP cannot be forgot by any informed Indian. AK will now not lack supporters inside his chosen core team as is the case for any other top leader of the conventional parties, but it should not be construed that their support is out of full honesty and the support will last the life of a shooting star-when you are out of power, they will be gone.
If AAP fails because of the internal strife,in its mission of cleaning Indian politics, the leadership has to take the greater blame and curse of failing India because the failed movement would convey the message of impossibility of such an effort in the country. Let Ak make a surprise overture to reach to his critics democratically, take their suggestions positively, keep the party united and the hope of all right-sensing Indians be not slashed.

NE meetings are not expected to be reality shows!
Transparency of decision-making doesn't necessitate transparency of all proceedings. My parents may have had a heated argument about who is responsible for my bad grades, but finally they reached a consensus on what to do about it, and they communicate the consensus to me, and I understand it. If I were to look at what he said/ she said at various emotionally charged moments, I'd be completely torn.
If my parents are always guarded in what they say/do because his son would have access to all, they wouldn't have any realistic discussion.
NE meetings are not reality shows!

Something needs to be done, but what I don't know. Because leaders are not listening, not even replying to questions being asked.

arvind you carry on with your good work now........ do not lose focus by these bhushans, ilmis ,arnab goswamis and binnnys ... people voted for you inspite of the relentless tirade of the bhushans, ilmis ,arnab goswamis and binnnys... just go about delivering in delhi, next time we will win all 70 seats ... these time we lost 3 seats. just because of bhushans asking people to vote for Modi BJp's kiran bedi, by saying she will make a better CM... do not worry about the negative comments on various boards most of them are BJP supporters ,who are trying to prop up their bete noire Bhushans as they can see a challenger to BJP and Modi in you..... best of luck... take care of your health, security and deliver well in delhi…. You know how much influence bhushans and arnab goswami has… their candidate Modi BJp's Kiran Bedi.... forget becoming the CM could also not become a MLA....

bhushans deserve no mercy, they should be expelled from the party for supporting BJP... when thousands of volunteers (many on unpaid leaves ) were working hard on the ground for a AAP victory in delhi taking on the barbs ,insults and voilence of the BJP cadre... shanti bhushan and prashant bhushan was mocking each and every volunteer by working hard to defame AAP ,giving television interviews form AC rooms and supporting Modi BJP's Kiran Bedi. Even in NDTV interview prashant was trying to defame/deride arvind by taking the moral high grounds...a large part of the campaign time was lost in clarifying these twos tirades..... People of delhi have voted for arvind in spite of the bhushans tirade/campaign, so please let arvind do his work...

look at the magnanimity of kejriwal has he even uttered a single word against the bhushans, ilmis ,arnab goswamis and binnnys... though these goup does not miss a single opportunity to defame him... arvind just do not respond... just ignore their barking and go about doing your work...

The AAP Vounteers(stakeholders) should through both representatives or/and crowd sourcing have 50% weight in NEC. Sir am disappointed with you for having abstained perhaps for want of municipal elections. You corrective measures are appreciable. We should not seek minutes of meeting as it will affect AAP's reputation but yes, not only should AAP restore respect to YY and PB by open promise to RS seats but also Heads involved in Delhi Govt. should hold no post in AAP Party. Each state will have a respectable face presented to electors and not just only in name of AK, which AK Loyalists only believe in.

mr mayank reconcile to the reality of AAP evolving another political party once few para dropped journalists cum leaders in party accomplish the task of removing all those who do talk uncomfortable truth about it,with tactic support of AK,asish khetan with a blotted journalistic stint with tehlka(questioning CBI)in ESSAR- LOOP 2G controversy has shown his true colours then too AK chose him to be his right hand so it is better you and many others like you realize your utility in new AAP and adjust yourself accordingly....good luck

Now u people are taking the shelter of volunteers to safeguard your own interests.you have broken party discipline inthe name of volunteers and by giving further statements in the. Media you have show your intentions.sorry you have failed the test and this will take you nowhere

I agree with the points rasidd in ur article. But inner party democracy is confined to act within party constitution. And in the name of transparency publishing everything in public domain will not strengthen the party. Hope you agree with my point.
For common volunteers view AK is undisputable icon & towering personality. It is true to some extent. Now party has moved to its bit matured stage, which needs organisational rewamping. The current issues show differences erupt between Delhi unit & rest.
I don't believe conspiracy theories.Diffenerce of any opinion will lead to growth only. But it should happen within party frame work.Dragging volunteers in this will counter productive in long run.

Mayank ji Right from day one I have advocated 2 ... 3.... points : 1.) The Timing .... WHY NOW .... we have just won an election AK obviously is scarefully busy and overworked strained and in frail health due to lagataar stress and strain ! 2.) The modus operandi .... dhandoraa peet peet kar logon ko suna sunaa kar kyun, TV mein interviews mein ... ghar ka bheydi lanka dhaye kyun ?? 3.) Attitude : why this confrontational attitude ... one must know when, what and how to present ... is there any discipline oriented constitution written by all of us or the more intelligent persons ? If proper respect was given to the MAN amongst us THE LITERALLY GREAT ARVIND KEJRIWAAL WHO HAS 100 TIMES SAID THAT I AM NOT HE CM YOU ALL ARE !! Even then we act like hudlums lumpen creatures fighting for visuals to be seen amongst a SEA OF MASSES .... THERE SEEMS TO BE A METHOD IN TRYING TO DEMOLISH THE MAN BEFORE THE JOBS HAVE EVEN BEGUN !! WHY WHY THAT IS TO BE ANSWERED FIRST ! GOD HAS GIVEN US TONGUES AND WE KEEP ON WAGGING IT LIKE A DOG WAGS THE TAIL ..... WHY IS IT SO WE CANNOT RESPECT THAT PERSON WHO HAS STARTED IT ALL ... HAD HE NOT STARTED NOTHING WUD HAVE FRUCTIFIED ... WHY FORGET THAT ... YAAR LET SOME TIME PASS ... SELF IMPORTANCE IS NOT NECESSARY .... SO MUCH WORK HAS TO BE DONE .... JUST SILENTLY KEEP WORKING GET YOURSELF NOTICED THROUGH YOUR HARD HARD WORK ... SHOW YOUR IDEAS / YOUR TALENT / STOP COMPLAINING STOP ASKING FOR GREEDY POSTS ... LET PEOPLE WORK LET KEJRIWAL DELIVER ... HAVE PATIENCE GODAMITT !!!!!

There is a small disagreement (every two people will disagree on something) on you abstaining from voting. You had two contrasting thoughts and it isn't easy to resolve them in the midst of everything. But I believe that "smooth functioning in the wrong direction" is worse than "obstructed functioning in the right direction", and I think YY and PB would have shown the right direction - you should have voted to keep them in PAC. That is of course only my opinion.

All the best for everything and I hope you make AAP a better party, grounded on its founding principles!

Dear Wasim , you are right when say we indian propagate the problems & dont ensure solutions. Now take the csse of AAP they say all parties are corrupt they take funds from Ambanis etc bug keep mum about their own ghost funding. Practically solution is not provided at all on corrupt funding.

Had u voted against the motion of removing YY and PB and then violated the gag order, I would have taken u on face value. But its difficult to believe ur motivation of doing this now..
Also, we are not agitating to know what happened in the NE. We want to know the actual reasons for the motion of removal of YY and PB! If they have done any anti party activities there is no reason why they shouldn't be expelled from the party itself! But that is the job of the internal lokpal..
And the point that u won't go to the media is a sham! The news hungry media will lap up ur blogs.. and u know that!

I think you guys are totally a confused and are also confusing people with just blabbing what each and everyone feels like. I thought you guys will not just talk about problems but also Solutions to Problems. but when we get information on about problems then we know that you guys know shit about how to get things done. Shameful. The reason not to expand is simple until you bring out a strong organization. before bringing about an organization people would want to know what you can do with what you have. AK is just doing that . Focus on delhi achive something considerable to speak about to people. until then ..u and the whole party on the name of swaraj etc etc can confuse everyone and do billion ki ladayii mein bandar maeey karega. think about it.

I wish more people in AAP understand what you have expressed so simply and effectively: “It always has to be nation first, party next and individuals last.”

I also wish more people understand another important point made by you: a teacher’s teachings are much more important that the teacher himself/herself.

To those commenters and AAP members who are trying to silence you by talking about the massive mandate received by AAP in Delhi, I’d like to quote Mahatma Gandhi’s words: “Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.

So you think this blog will help to strengthen the party.you are wrong,Mr.Gandhi.This blog has already destroyed the hopes of thousands of volunteers.Let me tell all volunteers the real reason behind Mayank's opposition.
1.Arvind dont want to contest elections all over India. He wants to concentrate only in DELHI.
2.Leaders like YY,PB wants AAP to spread their wings. No offence. But speaking in Public about transparency in party is like humiliating party itself.
3.If NE orders not to contest election then all the aspirations of state leaders like Mayank Gandhi will go in vain. Then how can Mayank support the resolution against YY & PB.
4.I am not saying YY & PB are totally wrong.Actually, leaders like Mayank are more guity than YY & PB.
Remember Mayank,Arvind Kejriwal is leader of party & ll always remain coz he is the who has that much strength to fight corruption.AAP is lame without Kejriwal.

NE should again be reconstituted as It looks like heavily hijacked by few delhi based self centered opportunistic people who has just joined AAP to simply enjoy the fruits of its power. What ever is discussed in the closed doors should be recorded or telecast live to its volunteers. Much like it is done in the Parliament. Winning or Loosing elections is just a smart part of the AAP agenda. every one should look at the broader image.

Dear Mr. Tarak you may be right in saying that party meeting can not be reality show but remember the most of the persons in the NE are same who wanted Lokpal Bill should be accepted as designed at RamLila ground instead of Parliament. Peolpe who propogate transperancy in public life should not fear of public and share tbeir decisions and policies with volunteers.

It is time for the folks who originated this movement to go away as AK increases his hold on the party.

I fully agree! It is because of the volunteers that AAP has won the Delhi elections and stands where it is. There should be be total transparency in decision making else a few will take over and do whatever they like.

Let Kejriwal focus on Delhi and the regional leaders expand AAP. All need to work together and talent must be respected. Dissent is not a crime. The PAC should be totally re-organised or Prashant and Yogendra be restored their seats in the PAC.

We cannot let assets of party be treated in this manner. Unity is strength ! If AAP is to achieve a change it can only do with people who are stead fast to principles. Else why are we in AAP. We could have gone to BJP or Congress!

Good that you listened to your inner conscience. Like you, many of us know that this is the last chance for this experiment of alternative politics. If it fails, we will not see another attempt by anyone in our lifetime. An example is the AGP in Assam. We are destined to be condemned to endure the dehumanising atrocities of the umpteen political parties. This is indeed a very scary situation. Mr. Kejriwal must replay his old speeches frequently for himself. The worst signal he sent is by staying away from that crucial meeting. He is a learner and we all hope sincerely that he will learn from the mistakes and take steps for course correction.

Prasanna Kumar said...

Sir, Kudos to you. Kudos to you for reminding people why they all came together in the first place, why they became a part of a movement which aspired to bring in a new kind of political environment in this country. When organizations fall short of the idealism they want to be defined by it becomes imperative and a moral duty of every person in charge of that organization to do everything that she or he can to help it strive even harder towards that goal. You cannot build a political party it just happens, but to keep the ideals alive because of which the party came into existence needs enormous work from every individual who believe in those ideals. A political party is never about few individuals its always about those lakhs of faceless people who have vested their faith in the ideologies the party seems to be upholding, who have placed their trust in the faces the leader's who represent those ideologies, its always about those tens and thousands of hard core volunteers who have invested so much of their time, money and hope to help that ideology gain more acceptability. It pain's to know that Mr.Bushan instead of striving to make things better was "threatening" to air his dissent in front of the media even while being aware that it would crush the hopes of millions, it would force the structure to crumble. What use is there for "idealism" when you don't have discipline to pursue it, here by discipline i also mean a structure an organization, Organizations cannot be run in such Ad Hoc manner there has to be discipline even in the way you show your dissent. I personally think that certain questions raised by Mr. Bushan are very valid but i don't understand his actions ...

Q 1. Were the candidates who contested in the Delhi elections vetted by the internal Lok Pal ? - YES

Q 2. Does anyone in the party or people who have volunteered for the party think that certain questions raised by Mr. Bhushan are not valid ? - NO

Q 3. Then why on Gods earth Mr. Bhushan wanted to air his dissent in front of the media ?, What would have he gained because of that other than a weak AAP. ?

Q 4. Does that mean that Mr. Bhushan has no belief in the conviction of thousands of Party workers who have given their everything to make AAP what it is today ?, Does that mean that they are not capable of making the AAP leaders accountable for their deeds.?

Prashant Bhushan Sir, and to all the other party leaders all i want to say is this,
you are not just another leader in the Aam Aadmi Party, you are also the custodian of the hope that millions carry in their hearts that now they can believe in someone to whom they can give their everything to help him make them see a better India being built right in front of their eyes, Sir's Keeping that hope intact is necessary if we are to make the wishes of 23 crore dirt poor people in this country come true, who go to sleep empty stomach every night hoping to wake up to a new beginning one day.

How ironic that people accusing Arvind Kejriwal of not listening to anyone else have not even taken the trouble of reading the comments of those opposing this blog. The point is that some members were so concerned about other issues such as funding/internal democracy, why have they failed to set up these systems in the party? Is blaming Kejriwal an acceptable and sufficient excuse? Agreed, these issues are not new, so after all this time, where are your plans? "Volunteers need to propose plans...". Sir, we will, but why did you not blog asking for our support for these things before? If you are so capable and so concerned, be a leader. Ask for the responsibility, take up the responsibility. There are enough talented hardworking volunteers, set up your teams and then execute your plans! Why sit and wait for Kejriwal do everything?

Instead of creating a public tamasha and throwing dirt on the AAP leadership here on a blog, Mr Mayank Gandhi should have raised all these issues within the party forums. In any other party he would have been thrown out after the first outburst itself. Lets hope he comes back from Bangalore and accepts his error of judgement reg YY and PB

Well Done Mayank ji.

Arvind Kejriwal has come out to be a highly insecure & small man who is trying his best not only to suppress & oppress those who differ from him but also ensuring that there is no challenger to him and his fiefdom in AAP for all times to come. That explains him & his coterie trying to hijack AAP as someone's private property instead of being a people's movement & a party owned by its volunteers.

From whatever I can make out, Arvind is shit scared of the very thought of AAP's state units actually going ahead with their plans to contest elections to local bodies, panchayats, assembly etc. Because he fears that this would (and his fears are not misplaced) lead to emergence of batter leaders who may even surpass him in popularity & mass appeal. That's the reason he unilaterally (without PAC or any other party forum's approval) announced from Ramlila Maidan that for the next 5 year AAP would just bother about Delhi.

With ripe chances of AAP winning & forming govt. in Punjab & wresting a few wins in various other polls elsewhere, he & his lackeys want to nip any such `threat' in the bud. For example, not contesting in Punjab would mean that AAP waits another 5 years, just the way it is doing in Haryana now. The interim period could well see enthusiasm of volunteers dying down and the entire momentum disintegrating.

The question is not of winning a majority in whatever polls you contest but to make an entry, even with a few wins...do good public service...set up new benchmarks and build the base for next big victory.

hence, I persoanlly call upon all AAP State & City units not to care for how Kejriwal & co. would feel if they decided to go against their diktats. Show them their place as an ordinary & equal citizen by asserting your independence and taking your own decisions without caring for `Mogambo khush hua ki nahin'.

Leaving aside the inter-personal bickerings momentarily & looking at the broad picture -

1. Party now has only ONE leader. There is no one left in the 2nd or even 3rd tiers of leadership in the party. I am talking here about leaders whom people/volunteers support in their own right, as opposed to people who are "seen often with Arvind".
2. This leader has promised not to leave Delhi for 5 years.
3. The selfsame leader has declared party won't fight elections outside Delhi for 5 years. Given points 1 & 2 above, this seems to be a reasonable decision.

Totaling the above, it seems those of us not from Delhi have already been expelled from the party for all practical purposes.

In the last instance we all know how AAP consulted the people on various important issues to arrive at a decision which is why the party captured the imagination of the entire country (and the world). WHAT IS PREVENTING THEM FROM DOING THE SAME THIS TIME ROUND? AAP has, as of now, clearly broken two promised policies : 1. No High Command Structure. 2. Complete Transparency. Effectively they have cheated their voters on both counts. This is where people like me get off their train. Here we have a leader who has become the CM and is yet desperate to be the Convener as well. This may be routine for other parties but should not be so for AAP. The party has to relook itself. You have said that you will consult the people even on preparing the budget and yet you do not take into account people's sentiment on the latest happenings - ironical-. There is no hope for AAP if they do not have a new Convener - Let Kejriwal attend to the all important duties of CMship. How can he distrust his colleagues and more importantly the general public who voted for him? - Personally PB type of person would be a better choice than YY as they will be less comprising on ethical aspects. I think Rahul Mehra would make an excellent choice.
To close, I have this to say that AK must trust the people who voted for him and allow others in the party and party itself to grow. Also well done Mr. Mayank Gandhi.

Removing YY & PB from PAC is not right. The decision as well as how it was taken shows a clear sign of intolerance, lack of inner party democracy and transparency. Its very important that a party like AAP, lives up to the high standards and ideals of transparency, accountability and swaraj that it has espoused. There is a danger that small group of lateral entrants in Delhi who do not have deep roots in the mass movement and ideology of swaraj that preceded the founding of AAP are taking over the party. Hats off to Mayank for showing the courage to stand up to the ideals. All volunteers should push for the decision to remove YY & PB from PAC to be reversed.

Hello,

As a keen observer of the Rise of AAP through the interesting times of its life span ,let me make a few observations
AAP was formed for the people, It listened to the people, connected people with a'VISION' of what India and politics in a new informed world could be.
It pains to see another dream of the common man and millions of youngsters bought down harshly, by a coterie of people who have seemed to hijack the very principles on which it was formed organically
It is even more ridiculous that people who seem to be lacking in vision or creating solutions to problems which plague this country from the AAp side seems to have created a very closeted non transparent secretive coterie to hijack the party,
It was evident ,for sometime that leaders who were caught by tv sting operations not some time back still continue to occupy, major power an in committees in the party purely due to oratory skills.
I salute ,Mr Yadav who has shown admirable restraint through out the image tarnishing processes.Prof yadav also happened to be the most credible face on the visual media for AAP during the dilli elections
I also admire your courage to bring about what happened within the closed doors of this meeting
Dont worry gentleman,AAP needs an Opposition and it is time the gentlemen realised that India has come a long way and today our generation has the wherewithal and the courage to make informed sources
Leave it to your better judgement to still have hopes for what AAP could have been or should be, rest assured India will still provide support to for other new political options which fully practises vision for true democracy for the people of India.

Hope these events turn out to create better sustainibility and deservingly more power and prudent choices to all citizens of this amazing country

Dear TOP AAP leaders,

I have been seeing various versions of various AAP leaders since the removal of YY and PB from NE committee.

It has been disappointing and disheartening to see this happening. The attacks now appears to be personal among the leaders and there are various groups formed who are responding to each other. There are certain incidences and circumstances and decisions those are being referred to time and again. But I believe we should leave all that past now, let me explain that.

I still strongly feel that when there was best opportunity for AAP top leadership to strengthen the internal democracy, they opted against it. And opted to remove the leaders who raised the right questions.

The one big war won and we were looking for giving the message to this whole india that these principles of democracy, transperancy, stand and prevail in AAP and will be nurtured here, and this disappointment came our way. This was indeed a second war, but we seem to be using the power to kill the opposites.

There could be certain disciplinary issues with YY and PB, but I think those are applicable to Anjali Damania as well the way, we hear saying now on channels – I care dam for Mayank etc. And we all need to look at the larger picture, I am sure they must also be frustrated with the candidate selections and such issues and the foundation of AAP being not built on basics like transparency, participation, accountability and strong conscience. There are ways they might have responded to this which might not be very appropriate or right. But for that matter even our teams also have not rightly followed the guidelines and principles and have always taken right decisions and steps.

The highest bodies of AAP itself have not rightly built with right representation, selection process, principles and that the reality, I know it has been scarcity of resources and too many internal and external challenges to be dealt with. Hence the period prior to Delhi Election and period post Delhi Election needs to be looked at differently and it should be the right period to reinstate right values and principles and build the party on stronger foundation.

We have seen a very recent example with AAP win and Modi’s defeat that, finally the right things will stand the test of time. The same people, who were praising Modi a day before the election result, criticized Modi. The lesson out of this is that not everything will stand test of time, the success formula which is not based on right values, principles, ethics will finally not stand. Let them have any money, any amount of resources with them.

We showed difference to the world as a party and we could stand criticism and questions of others as we were right and actions were based on right values and principles. The same rule has to stand for our internal democracy and other founding principles. And it should have internal critics and the teams should be so right and fair and clean that it should be able to withstand such internal criticism and questions.

Hence I request all of you to unite and build the right team and keeping such important watchdogs like Prashant and Yogendra. And the right response to this challenge will be to withstand their expectation.

We are awaiting to hear a matured decision and action plan and united AAP from all you leaders.

i request you to post this on your blog, to share this dimension of thought process and views of the voluneers.

Regards,

Ganesh P

An army general /established leader never leaves site of action the way AK has done.Damage inflicted on credibility of AAP by egoistic stalwarts appears irreversible

Sir, you did great job! Party should have published all this but looks pure mismanagement by AAP leaders in handling this issue. They showed their highly unconcerned behavior towards volunteers/supporters/Donors.

You speaks exactly what AAPian like me thinks. As AK said it is a party of Volunteers and talked about transparancy, feel our leader should be accountable to them. MoM of AAP meetings should be published on website and shared with volunteers/supporters/Donors.

If they feel it is not important then all we can say All The Best to our own party.

That is why Anna ji said if you enter the politics, you will become politician and forget the real goal. Politics is the game of power and faithfulness to the goal is used as a mean to arouse emotions and bring people with you to achieve the ultimate goal to get power. That is why Annan ji was against the idea of his followers of joining the politics. Those swearing of the swaraj must make the minutes public and prove that they are still well wishers and well doers for the country and not power hungry politicians.

Reading your blogs have become a new passion.

I had followed various public interest litigations that Prashant Bhushan has worked on, often free of charge on nationally important causes being fought by people who could not afford famous lawyers.

Having followed Aruna Roy's work on RTI, and subsequent efforts of Anna ji to root out corruption through a strong ombudsman bill, I came to know many activist, like Kejriwal. I donated and supported AAP with the bottom of my heart for bringing a new kind of politics. I also believed in AKs assumption that if politics is dirty and if it cannot be cleaned from outside, then it must be cleaned from within by good people joining politics.

Then I read what happened at the Delhi election, where allegedly questionable characters were allowed to contest on AAP ticket, raise funds in questionable manner, and buy votes using questionable means, none of which were disclosed.

AAP is at a crisis, and needs to fix itself first, before it can hope to clean up either politics or Delhi, no matter how many MLAs it has.

Many volunteers gave up their job temporarily to come and work for the campaign, hoping to take part in rooting out a rotting system and bring respectability back into politics. The party, and the movement belongs as much to them as to NE or PAC. AAP is where it is now also because of the donors, the supporters and the voters.

And AAP may be failing to live up to the expectations of its support base. We do not care how many MLA it has got. We care that whatever it does, it does no cleanly, transparently, honestly and conscientiously. We care that AAP allows space for honest dissent and multiple views in an inclusive think tank.

Knives are coming out, showing that anybody that speaks his mind honestly for the betterment of the country and the workings of the party, is to be hounded out for disloyalty to Arvind Kejriwal.

Why should support for a better India be reduced to AK worship or AK loyalty? Why should independent and valid objections be muted?

I wish AAP officials will recognize that it is at a fork in the road and faces a major internal crisis which needs fixing.

Thanks again for your blog

Very good .
We(each volunteer) registered in AAP and we donated money(small amount but we shown great enthusiasm which worth more than money ) , we worked through social media which was possible ,because we have to support our family first. Many of them were not in a condition to leave the work dedicated fully for AAP. Even after We really hurt when things are happened in last week . So it is our right to know the real fact. I really felt VERY bad when YY gi was removed. He is one of the BEST leader in AAP who knew the people's heart as well as AAP (other than AK) . It would be very appreciable if MM displays in public domain. Also suggestion for volunteer’s opinion/participation (through online or through lower level meeting) for any major decision.(It is also not good sending mail only for donation . there should be some responsibility for sending the MM (if MG's suggestion not accepted) to the volunteers. Since the local volunteers knowing the news only from media , so WE ARE REALLY CLUELESS of the REAL FACT !!

taking advantage of kejri wave in maharashtra and haryana seems to be the reason behind impatience in the party. but kejri wave alone is not going to help in all states. local leadership and team has to be committed and dedicated like delhi team which to my opinion is a super blunder in maharashtra and haryana. so instead of raising AAP to that level in these regions by MG and YY, crying for power in the name of country first is childish. will other leaders take charge of their areas or want everything prepaid. moreover after a nation-wide flop show of LS2014 AAP should first prove itself in delhi for atleast one year, then go to other states with delhi report card.

Why are you getting so worked up about AK. Force AAP to publish minutes and decide for yourself. Don't try to malign without any basis.

Are you complaining about Mayank because he did not say "hi" to you.

Anonymous said...

Sir,
AAP need to give a strong delivery in Delhi first, for that all 70 leaders who participated in Delhi along-with AK & Delhi AAP volunteers must concentrate and work hard on the delivery of Delhi Promises first.

And AK must be spared from the responsibility of "National Convener" and he must become "State Convener" because his attention should not be drawn by inter state affairs. The word "National" is for whole nation not only "Delhi". Now for AK and his 70 election contender's most important part of the India for hard work is "Delhi" and only Delhi, where AAP has to prove its efficiency, commitment and delivery. Every second of AK is very important for Delhi and AK's personal health as well. So he should not be tortured, pressurized or diverted. on the contrary he should be motivated, appreciated and supported by other AAPians.

Remember every AAPians aim is to make AAP Unite, clean and strong then every must obey the rule of patience.

Expansion is compulsory requirement but initially AAP must have "Strong Delivery Report Card of merit" in its hand first. Which will become strong base for expansion in other states. so AAP volunteers even from other state must assist hard to achieve promises in Delhi instead of making such issues which is related just to a particular post in the party.

Expansion in other state should be considered by concerned state leaders who first support to Delhi AAP to achieve their goal.

AAP volunteers are wise enough to decide that values should not be compromised, decentralization of power, anti-grouping, anti-person centralized party. But this is not the time. It is time to fulfill the wishes of Delhi as sooner possible and unite AAP. I think AK is also understanding that AAP should not be like BJP which is called nowadays "Modi Sarkar". We including All volunteers including AK, YY, PB, Khetan and others will come together with a good solution.

1. Systems & processes need to be clearly defined keeping in line with party Constitution & founding principles.
2. Institute checks & balances in each process.
3. Minimize discretionary power. - reduces scope for corruption
4. Minimize concentration of authority & power - decentralizes power
5. Power should be balanced with Accountability & Transparency - no dictatorships, minimize "secrets", cozy clubs etc.
6. Volunteers / members must be trained & aware of the process - empower volunteers
7. Whistle blower policy. Encourage people to speak up if they suspect any wrong doing / process violation - volunteers serve as checks on powerful positions
8. Escalation of violations of rules & ethics to a credible independent institution (Lokpal) - accountability

Realize that "democracy" itself is an evolving process. Periodically review & refine these processes with the aim of achieving a transparent, accountable and democratic organization culture.

These are some of my "positive" thoughts. None of this is rocket science and many have shared similar thoughts in the past. All top organizations recognize the need to implement them to ensure highest organizational ethics & accountability.

Now comes my "negative" caveat that NONE of these will be agreed until the right people are in the decision making bodies of AAP. It's like demanding Jan Lokpal from politicians who themselves will get trapped if they implement the law. i.e. Conflict of interest :-(

One idea is to frame such a comprehensive list of demands and try to solicit support from as many NC & NE members to see where we are with respect to building support within the decision makers of the party. Problem is there is no bottom up voting so volunteers really don't have a strong tool (vote) they can leverage to influence decision makers. So we have to rely on phone/email campaigns, social media etc. to put +ve moral pressure for leaders to do the right thing.

Mayank, how can you say "Dear Volunteers, Supporters and donors". You think you are the boss now or this a publicity stunt for your TBD new book?

This is what millions of volunteers, supporters and donors think:

If you have guts, go stand for a ward election in Mumbai and win it. Write a detailed blog on your success after winning an election. Shame that you guys are even doubting Arvind. Bhushan's have their own agenda, they are rich lawyers and we don't know why they left BJP. YoYo's designs are also exposed. We volnteers wish these developments were kept internal.

You guys panicked too early

You were zero before AAP and you will be minus zero after AAP. We have given you a platform to speak so respect it and come back home.

Kya baath karta hain. IS BJP your next stop like Madam Shazia?

Millions of volunteers feel you fit in the BJP camp with these characteristics
- show little bit of honesty in the beginning
- join AAP and cheer Arvind
- Go against Arvind and shout againt AAP
- the more you shout, the better ticket you will get in BMC

Go and ask PB if you have any ethics left

Anonymous said...

Sir, you have very good advice. But sir please guide the volunteers as to how they can put pressure on the leadership to implement internal reforms. Should the volunteers do dharna outside Arvinds house? What are our demands, we have to speak in one voice to the leadership. We do not want to break the party, but at the same time we want to speak up against a section of the party. Tell us how we can do this.

Omkar Pandit said...

Anjali Damania should be fair in her utterances. It is a conflict of interest if she speaks against PB, as she works in the office of Kejriwalji. Therefore, these kind of petty politics are not expected. Whats going on from teh Kejrwal's camp is not right.

Unknown said...

Dear Mayank ji, I accept your argument that there should be transparency. The question is, was your blog constructive for the party or otherwise. Volunteers need not satisfy every curiosity at the cost of the party. I appreciate you are committed to the volunteers, but will this help the party when media took up your blog to describe 'AK is the root cause of all problems'? Indians don't understand what you are trying to say, they want everything in black and white. Thats the reason they get fooled by politicians and media, and thats why AAP was born to save them (not only to give a senseless swaraj)! Please remember that before you take any step in future. I completely agree with Mr. Anwar Khan's comments - that your blog did not reveal everything, neither it gave a solution. So what is the point of taking these matters public where all kinds of imagination is flying high.

Amarjit Singh Minhas said...

Dear Mayank,

I do not agree with the route taken by you on following grounds :

1 You did not raise your voice of resentment at the proper forum when the oppurtunity was provided to you i.e. National Executive Meeting.
2 Why did you absented from the voting when you were so strongly against the resolution, as in democratic set up voting only is the solution ?
3 Once a resolution passed in the meeting, all leaders are expected to be strongly toe the same line and should not creat confusion in the minds of masses i.e. followers/volunteers.
4 In the initial stage the party like AAP need to control the individual aspirations in the interest of the party and should follow the principle " Unity of Command" for creating the ground for themselves.

These are the few thoughts which I suggest you to ponder on for the betterment within AAP for your positive contribution as the route under taken by you is negative and will not suite the majority members of the party and Nation as a whole.

Remain loyal and positively charged for AAP.

Warm Regards,

Amarjit Singh Minhas

BJP adopted Congress culture with its own flavours and now l can see AAP is going on the same path of Cong & BJP with its own flavour.

AAP started as party with difference and that is why people rejected Cong, BJP and supported AAP.

AAP must not become one of BJP or Congress kinds of party.

My interpretation
==================
When you have differences, you try all your ways and might to resolve/correct it.
If you can’t resolve then you leave and then SPIT to propagate general awareness.
If you spit without leaving means, you are with hidden agenda.

Public opinion or AAM perception or vision is not so blunt. As I see it is far more mature.

People understood that Kejriwal and party is a good man party but too naive to run the country like INDIA. THEY pushed BJP's Modi to be there to give some time to Kejriwal and Modi as well.

Giving acceptance to Kejriwal's unique way for reinforcement of politics itself, and very aesthetics way to eliminate corruptions, and to display of his strong wills, People chosen Kejriwal to make delhi as his nursery to experiment up, and prove his ability and create the tree he wants to create.

Mayank Gandhi, prashant bhushan, yogendra, All are good man and joined hands with Kejriwal to create and move AAP. Now if they feel Kejriwal is doing the same dirty politics, then they should leave this AAP AND FORM NEW PARTY. OR they should have kept trying to improve/push the party their way without accusing in /spitting filth in public. Their way of accusing and sought for transparency in public does not fit to a normal good man mind/heart. It seems that they are with their hidden agenda.

If I was maynak/yogendra/prashant as a good man, and was not happy with the way the Party/Kejriwal were following, then, I must had tried to reinforce that with all my ways and might for all good cause. And after all my effort, if it were still not went in a good way that I had thought for and say party had kept following bad means that was not acceptable to me, then, I must had left the party, either to create a new party with all like-minded people or to have a living as I was leaving earlier before AAP. AND then I had written all those blogs to accuse them or in my effort to make people be aware about some facts, as I was knew to.
Showcasing distrust in public, while still being the part of it, is mere politics of personality cult. And General public minds read it like they are not as good as Kejriwal is.

And now if I was a good man in the position of Kejriwal, I have must eliminated these culprits without a second thought for spitting filth in public, thinking either it is all good or it is not.

People arguing that politics is accommodation of all kinds, should understand that filth must be in dustbin or outside the room.

Going in public before doing your all effort till your last hope and before leaving the party is not a good man's way.

Keep Going Mayank sir!

In DEMOCRACY PEOPLE are KING.

In AAP VOLUNTEER Is KING.!!!

100% sure you wont quit.
Will come out with flying colors

It does not sound you are addressing it with your volenteers. it seems you are voicing up to enrich your own political ground.

Man! you don't address your family members on tv channel/blog.

You address/discuss them in your drawing room/ Aangan/baramda but nowhere in any public place don't you.

I pity on the politicians for the way they conceive about public understand-ability.

Please never under-estimate the understand-ability of a common man. Mass do understand very correct. if you are on wrong foot, they understand you are wrong. vision may happens to be blurry at a moment but that does not prevail for long.

You should be talking directly to party leaders to convince them to your point of view rather than creating a ruckus through your blog. Blogging is giving an impression that you are only interested in building up your public profile rather than getting real results.

You may not succeed as millions remain with hope and its leadership. Certainly you need a very well focused leader to take forward any movement.

We are the witness to the body language of Mr Prashant Bhushan and the out burst of Mr Shanti Bhushan at the time of recent Delhi election.
If you have the interest of AAP in mind and heart please try to mend the relation with your comrades in the interest of the nation and take the party to its glory.

My question to you is after all that spiritual, kundalini awakening etc. what exactly do mean the word humiliation? Why is it difficult for you to present truth for average human beings?

Very Curious to know, it seems you stopped publishing on spirituality since 2014. Would you mind to publish on what is humiliation and why you have to quit? As far as I know, those who achieved what you have told in your blog would be master of nature, not a slave.

I am practicing Rajayoga without a guru, and I am still in Yama and Niyama stages, wandering between two.

Would you Post a blog in your spiritual content

Thanks and regards

May All Prosper

swamy
